When exploring the Arctic, we want you to get to know the Sami people, and learn about their traditions and cultures.
Therefore we have partnered with our dear friends at the sami camp where you can enjoy an unforgettable day.
This tour includes a reindeer sledding and a Sami culture lecture at their camp. During this experience you also have a chance to feed the herd of around 200 reindeer, fun and exciting way to connect to this historically important animal. We then gather inside the “Lavuu” (Sami tent) for a hot traditional meal and listen to stories about Sami culture & history.
It’s an interesting, powerful and truly unique experience to get to know about the Sami history and meet the Reindeers.
Some experiences stand out, the visit to the Sami camp is one of these. Johan Isak along with his family and team look after you with great intention for your optimal fun and comfort during this day tour.
Getting close to the reindeer - we love the nature and the animals that live here, this is a unique way to get really close with the reindeer and you actually are allowed to feed them from your own hands, with more than a hundred reindeer that are very happy to see you this quickly become a fun experience.
It’s An Important History To Take Part Of, In Combination With a Fun Family Activity
The Traditional Sami Tents
The traditional Sami tents are called “Lavuu” and the team at their camp has built a beautiful one to host you in front of the fireplace. A welcoming, historic and educational moment where you learn about the traditions, equipment and tools used by these people. You may also be able to try the lasso on some reindeer antlers.
Pick Up in Tromsø
The tour includes a pickup in central Tromsø and a short drive to the camp where the team is greeting you. There is plenty of time to socialise and take pictures with the reindeer before reindeer sledding, a hot meal, history and stories in front of the open fire place.
