The Ocean Clean Up Tromsø

The ocean cleanup Tromsø

We are partnering with the Ocean Conservancy to harness the power of the people to fight ocean trash. Nearly 12 million people and counting have taken part in the world’s biggest volunteer effort to protect the ocean for the past 30 years.  When we saw that Tromsø was not involved, we knew our community would want to represent not only Norway, but the world.

The Place

Tromsø is not only a place we call home, but it is known as the Gateway to the Arctic. Located 350 kilometers North of the Arctic circle, nature takes precedent here and it is our duty to take responsible and keep it clean for the wildlife and people who live here. For outdoor enthusiasts, Tromsø city centre is conveniently located just around the corner from seemingly untouched wilderness, which offers many opportunities for activities such as hiking, fishing, kayaking, dog sledding and whale safaris.

The Details

The cleanup will take place in Tromsø, Norway on September 16, 2017 (National Ocean Cleanup Day). We will meet at 09:00 in the city center of Tromsø, where we will then walk to the boats that are sailing out to clean the area up for the whales.
